Puzzles To Remember

PUZZLES TO REMEMBER is a 501(c)3 organization that provides puzzles to nursing homes, veterans facilities, and other facilities that care for Alzheimer's and dementia patients. Puzzles To Remember was founded in 2008 by Max Wallack, who recognized the calming effect of puzzles and many other benefits on people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Max graduated from Boston University, Summa Cum Laude, in 2015, and from Harvard Medical School in 2020.

Beginning in 2020, Hailey Richman is the Executive Director of PuzzlesToRemember. Since 2011, Hailey has been distributing puzzles to nursing facilities around the globe. Hailey also spends time doing the puzzles with nursing home residents. She always brightens their days.  Hailey is also the founder of KidCaregivers.com, where she provides advice for children dealing with dementia in their family members. Hailey has begun a program called PuzzleTime which involves volunteer students going to nursing facilities and doing puzzles with their residents. Max serves as a mentor to the KidCaregivers program.

If you have puzzles that you would like to donate, please contact us at Puzzles2Remember@gmail.com and we will find a location near you where you can bring your puzzles. We can also provide you with a donation letter so that you can claim the value of your puzzles as a tax deduction.

HERE ARE SOME of the many letters of thanks
and appreciation that we have received to date.

Thank you so much for your very generous donation of puzzles to the Bertram
House of Swampscott, the residents have been enjoying doing puzzles with
our care managers. It is great to see individuals like yourself
who want to make a difference in people's lives.
Thanks so much for thinking of us and for the great work that you are doing.

Thanks for thinking of us and our residents. Our Sunday receptionist (we call her the
Concierge) will be expecting you!
We will continue to work our resident's brains (as well as our own) to resist the
progression of dementing illnesses!
You have a thoughtful, giving and kind heart. Keep that spirit alive with-in you.
The selfish and cynical aspects of this world can sometimes snuff that spirit out in people.

Our executive director forwarded me your email about your puzzle
project and I think that is fabulous. We would love to have some
of the puzzles, I have many residents here who love to do puzzles
and I think they would appreciate it very much. Let us know when
you would like to come by with them, we will work with your
schedule.

Thanks and great job!

Thank you so much for the gernerous donation of puzzles to Sunrise of Lynnfield.
I know our residents will enjoy them and use them.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for the puzzles you dropped off. I had been out of the office
for several weeks and am just catching up on everything now. The puzzles
went to our early stage support group-- exactly as you had hoped,
the puzzles are going to people with early stage Alzheimer's.

Thanks again -- it's a wonderful thing you're doing.

On Behalf of the Harbor and Traditional units at Waltham Crossings. We are an assisted Living Facility and today when I showed the residents all the new
puzzles that were donated, they felt like it was Christmas!!!

Thank you so much. We always have a group puzzle going on in the corner.

Some residents have puzzles to do in their rooms. At the completion,
we glue it all together. At this point in time, we are looking for just
the right spot to display all of their hard work.

Thanks for keeping us in mind. It is an important service you provide.

We HAVe to exercise the mind!

Director of Activities

Please let me start by extending my sympathies in the loss of your grandmother.
I can't tell you enough what a truly amazing thing I think you're doing. I can
only imagine the time & effort that has gone into this project.
I would be absolutely love to take part in it and have my residents here
at Avery Manor in Needham benefit from your hard work. We have a Dementia
Unit that is in need of just these types of activities & budgets are
low so we would be so grateful.

If you have any questions at all please feel free to contact me
at the information provided below and please accept this invitation
to come & visit the Residents at Avery Manor when your schedule permits.

Thank-you,

Christine N. Bonfiglio

made to help those with such a debilitating disease.
On behalf of MasterPieces I would like to send you a selection of our

Thank you so much for the puzzles you recently donated to our facility. I was recently appointed the coordinator over our Alzheimer’s unit, and have been desperately looking for some good puzzles for our wonderful residents to use.
Your donation arrived just when I needed them the most. Thank you for taking the time and energy to include us in your efforts.
There just are not words to express how appreciative I am for you and the work you do.
Thank you

Thank you-Thank you for all of the puzzles the staff started using them that night
and the residents really enjoyed it.

Thank you so much for the puzzles. I want you to know that several of our
clients already started using them yesterday.
The puzzle size and choice of designs was so appropriate. Our activity director commented that they were so much better than the ones she has been able
to find.
This is a wonderful mitzvah project that is reaching many people and is so much appreciated. Keep up the good work.

Max,
What a wonderful project you have created. We appreciate your considering our
home for a donation. Yes, we would be interested in receiving puzzles from your
program.
We have puzzles placed around our unit where our residents can stop and work
on them at will. They often need to be replaced as pieces are lost or worn-out.
Not only are puzzles a great source of mental stimulation and hand-eye
coordination, they bring back pleasant memories as your project title suggests.
Your puzzles will be put to use and appreciated by our veterans
and the staff working with our special care unit.
Thank for helping us “Care for America’s Heroes”

Hi Max!
I think what you are doing is wonderful and an awesome tribute to your late Grandmother. I know she would be proud of your hard work, dedication, and selflessness in this endeavor.
The Alzheimer's Association, NW Ohio Chapter, operates two Adult Day Centers for men and women with all stages of Alzheimer's disease. We would love to be the recipient of your puzzles (large pieces please) if you have any that need homes. Puzzles are a great activity for small groups or one-on-ones with a staff member or other participant. It is a time when we see our participants shine because of their accomplishment at creating such a pretty puzzle. It is also a time for some great conversation and insight into that particular individual.
I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks for all you do,
Traci Holland

While I can donate all the puzzles in my house to your project -- (several have never been
opened :( -- the better result of being your teacher and friend is that I've considered places
where I, too, might serve. Needs are many and my interests are varied, but your endless
capacity to create time for works on behalf of others caused me in recent weeks to
investigate places where I and my own family can be of help.

Carolyn Given

I'm very proud of you and I'm going to go out and buy a couple of puzzles to
donate to the nursing home where I used to work.

Thanks for the inspiration, my friend.
Warmest regards,
Mary
